The title of the Academy Award-Winning Film, starring the memorable John Wayne. It's the story of an American Professional Boxer (John Wayne), who quits the ring after the death of an opponent. He then comes to Ireland in search of his roots, where he falls in love with an Irish Country Lassie (Maureen O'Hara).

The movie was filmed on the South West Coast of Ireland in 1952. Many of the movie's cast members stayed and dined at Ashford Castle, including Wayne and O'Hara. It was there that Francis Burke "then waiter" served many of their meals. Frank was so impressed with "The DUKE" that he named his Pub after that Wonderful Film and in honor of a Great Man!
